Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
